Wakarecy Piano duo is a leading Polish duet of Paweł Wakarecy and Aleksandra Soboń-Wakarecy.
It was formed in 2013 and since then the pianists performed in many venues in Poland and abroad.
Paweł Wakarecy got famous after getting the distinction and the prize for the best Polish competitior in the International Chopin Competition in 2010. Now he is a professor and he successfully works with students from all over the world in Nowowieyski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz.
Aleksandra Soboń-Wakarecy focuses on chamber and contemporary music and works successfully with young pianists in Karol Szymanowski State Music School in Toruń.
In November 2015 Wakarecy Piano Duo won the Absolute First Prize of XXV International Roma Piano Competition. Other prizes of the Duo include Prize for the best performance of Chopin's Rondo for two pianos and IV Prize of the VI Piano Duo Competition in Bialystok, III Prize of Four Hands sections in the Roma Piano Competition and "The New Face of Music" prize founded by the Institute of Music and Dance in 2014.
In 2014 they toured in Norway – made a debut in The Norwegian National Opera House and Norwegian Academy of Music, played an opening concert of „Polish Days” in Ringve Museum in Trondheim and were invited to play in the region of Sunnmøre in Møre and Romsdal. Wakarecy Piano Duo in 2014 also performed live in the Second Programme of the Polish Radio.
The broad range of Duo repertoire contains compositions for 4 hands and 2 pianos from baroque until nowadays.
